Glaido

Setup & Permissions

Grant the required permissions and complete the Glaido setup wizard.

When you first launch Glaido, a setup wizard walks you through the required permissions and configuration. You can re-run the wizard at any time from Settings > Account > Setup wizard.

Permissions are required

Glaido cannot transcribe or paste text without these permissions. If you accidentally denied a permission on macOS, you can grant it in System Settings > Privacy & Security. On Windows, check Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone.

Setup wizard

The onboarding wizard guides you through these steps:

Welcome

A short introduction to Glaido.

Accessibility permission (macOS only)

macOS will prompt you to grant Accessibility access. This allows Glaido to listen for your hotkey globally and paste text into the active application.

Click Open System Settings when prompted, then enable Glaido in the Accessibility list. This step is skipped on Windows.

Test your hotkey

The default dictation hotkey is Fn on macOS and Ctrl + Win on Windows. Press it to confirm it's working. You can change it using the configure button on this screen, or at any time later in Settings.

Microphone

Select your input device and speak to test it. You can leave this on auto-detect if you're not sure which device to pick.

Language

Select the language(s) you'll be dictating in. See Languages for details.

Test dictation

Hold your hotkey, speak a sentence, and release. The transcript appears on screen. If it works, you're ready to go.

Verifying permissions later

If something isn't working, go to Settings > Account > Check permissions to verify that the required permissions are granted.

On macOS you can also check directly:

  1. Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone and check that Glaido is enabled
  2. Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility and check that Glaido is enabled
