When you first launch Glaido, a setup wizard walks you through the required permissions and configuration. To run it again later, open Settings > Account and click Restart wizard next to Setup wizard.

Required permissions

Permissions are required

Glaido can't record or paste without these. If you denied one on macOS, turn it on in System Settings > Privacy & Security. On Windows, open Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone.

Setup wizard

The wizard has four steps.

Set up permissions

Grant Glaido the permissions it needs. On macOS this screen covers both Accessibility and Microphone. On Windows it covers only the microphone, and you can't continue until access is granted.

On macOS, click Allow access for Accessibility and Allow microphone for the microphone. On Windows, click Open Settings, turn on microphone access, then return to Glaido. The step completes on its own once access is granted.

Test your microphone

Select your input device and speak to test it. Leave it on auto-detect if you're not sure which device to pick.

Select your languages

Choose every language you regularly dictate in. Glaido works out which of them you're speaking. See Languages for details.

Try your first dictation

Hold your hotkey, say something, then release. Your transcription appears on screen. To use a different key, click the configure button next to Your dictation hotkey.

Verifying permissions later

If something isn't working, open Settings > Account and click Check permissions next to Permissions.

On macOS you can also check directly:

Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone and check that Glaido is enabled
Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility and check that Glaido is enabled
