Glaido

Hotkeys

Configure keyboard shortcuts for dictation and agent modes.

Glaido uses global hotkeys that work from any application. You have four configurable hotkey slots, two for dictation and two for Agent Mode. All of them live in Settings > Hotkeys.

Enter to stop and paste

During any hands-free session, pressing Enter stops the recording and pastes the result in one step. This works for both hands-free dictation and hands-free agent dictation, and it is on by default.

You can turn it off in Settings > Hotkeys under App. With it off, Enter behaves normally while you dictate, and you stop a hands-free session by pressing its hotkey again.

Changing a hotkey

  1. Open Settings and go to the Hotkeys tab
  2. Click the edit button next to the hotkey you want to change
  3. A picker appears. Press the key or key combination you want to assign. Hold modifiers first, then press the final key.
  4. Click Save

Hotkey conflicts

If you assign a key combination that's already used by another Glaido hotkey, you'll be asked whether to reassign it. Glaido prevents duplicate assignments.

Double-tap activation

When your hotkey is a single key, you can enable double tap in the hotkey picker. This prevents accidental triggers by requiring a deliberate double-tap gesture instead of a single press.

Double tap only works with a single key, not a key combination. The behavior differs depending on the hotkey type:

For hold (push-to-talk) hotkeys, "Double tap and hold":

Tap the key once, then immediately tap and hold it a second time to start recording. Hold until you're done speaking, then release. A single tap or a single hold does nothing on its own.

For hands-free (toggle) hotkeys, "Double tap to start":

Tap the key twice quickly to start recording. Tap it twice again to stop. A single tap does nothing.

Supported keys

You can use any combination of:

  • Modifier keys: Shift, Control, Option/Alt, Command/Win, Fn
  • Regular keys: Any letter, number, or symbol key
  • Special keys: Space, arrow keys, function keys (F1 to F12)

Modifier-only hotkeys are supported (e.g., just the Fn key or Right Option on its own). On Windows, left and right modifiers are distinguished (e.g., Left Ctrl vs Right Ctrl).

Risky combinations

Glaido warns you before saving combinations that can conflict with the OS, such as Win + Space (Windows keyboard language switcher), bare AltGr on international layouts, single bare modifiers, or Windows system shortcuts. You can always save anyway.

Other shortcuts

These are shown in Settings > Hotkeys for reference and are not remappable:
